i wonder if part of the motivation behind “ew, how can you like that character when they’re such a terrible person, are you defending their actions?” comes from people who exclusively interact with characters by projecting onto them. like actually i’m nothing like that character! i still think they’re cool as fuck

I actually don’t mind that “dead dove” has become conversational shorthand for “fics with heavy themes where you REALLY need to pay attention to the warnings”. such is the nature of language. what i do mind is when people tag their actual fics with dead dove and then give no indication of what they’re actually warning about. that is useless. that helps no one. that is completely against the spirit of the meme. i will not be reading that
Sometimes it’s useful to look at your dialogue and ask yourself, “would a real human being talk like that?” But it’s also good to ask the follow-up questions of “would the way a real human being talks sound good here” and “does this character actually talk like a real human being or are they weird about it.”
the amount of people saying they “only” shower once a day or every other day due to poor mental health is so wild to me. if you all knew how little i bathe even when i’m doing great mentally, you’d be horrified
do you ever notice how many people simply rationalize their positions post hoc sometimes even with arguments that contradict each other. not me though i just say shit at random and through god’s little miracles they coincidentally line up as correct and internally consistent human language

I highly recommend this method for backing up your tumblr blog, as written by @/magz!
It takes a little bit of setting up the first time, but the doc is very thorough, to the point that even a Python-illiterate doofus like me could set it up. Once it’s set up, you can export your blog without relying on and waiting for tumblr staff! Plus, you won’t have to redownload your whole blog every time you want to update your archive.
I’ve been using this method weekly to back up my partner and I’s blogs for about a year now, so I highly recommend any trans folks do the same!
